There is a girl in a small, black halter dress walking around behind me.
I feel like calling out to her,
“Don’t go into the dark. Don’t get lost in the deep dark baby girl. Demons and devils are out to get you.”
She walked out into the parking lot.
No cars.
No people.
Just dim lights and fresh autumn nights’ air.
She lifted her arms above her head. Her hands glide to the back of her neck, down to her shoulder blades.
She walks back up onto the curb.
Stopping to look into the windows of now vacant businesses already closed for the night.
“Girl, what are you looking for?
What do you need? In that tiny black dress…
Who are you trying to get away from?
Some mad men might take you if the chilled air doesn’t catch you first.”
She walked up and around me.
The sharp tap of her heels only vocalized her distress.
Heavy shoes.
Loaded steps.
Misery at best.
She disappeared around the corner.

It’s a cold, dark night.
Pretty girls shouldn’t walk alone.

On my days off, I enjoy just sitting at work, drinking my coffee, folding paper cranes, and watching Lost in Translation.

Last night I got pretty angry, and decided it was a good idea to punch a brick wall.

It looks a lot better all cleaned up, but still swollen.
Anger is a deafening feeling.
